Peter and John showed devotion to the Lord through thick and thin. And because of that, they experienced more things up close than the other disciples. And due to those experiences, they were available to be used by God in some very unique ways and had perspectives that the others missed out on.
Notice that of the original twelve disciples, Peter and John were the only ones who stuck with Jesus as He was arrested and taken away. Well, yes, Peter didn’t make it past the courtyard where he denied Jesus three times (“The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mat. 26:41)), but where were the others?! John was with Jesus all the way to the cross and was available for Jesus to entrust him with His mother (John…
