Food for Thought: Ps. 118:22, 23
The Lord often used imagery in the Old Testament as foreshadows of the things to come, much of which is contained in the construction of Solomon’s temple. Here, once again, Jesus appears in scripture long before His natural birth.
The builders of the temple were explicitly told to hew the stones in the mountains and then take them to the construction site for placement (I Kings 6:7). The stone chosen as the cornerstone did not fit, so it was rejected. Later, it was taken again, and then it fit perfectly. Jesus made reference to Himself as that stone that the builders rejected in the parable of the wicked vinedressers who killed the son of the owner of the vineyard in order to take possession of the land, directed toward the religious leaders who…
