Food for Thought: Job 22:2, 3
Eliphaz asks some questions that definitely require an answer. He rhetorically asks, “Can a man be profitable to God, though he who is wise may be profitable to himself? Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or is it gain to Him that you make your ways blameless?” The answer to his questions is a thousand times YES!
Eliphaz’s first mistake is he, like so many today, erroneously and grossly underestimates the value of man in God’s eyes. From the beginning, the Lord chose to make man in His own image, give him the high position of having dominion over all things created on earth, and have fellowship with Him (Gen. 1:26; I Cor. 1:9; Ps. 25:14; Prov. 3:32).
