April 6 Scripture Selection: II Samuel 19-21

Food for Thought: II Sam. 19:1-8

There is a purpose, a calling, that is greater than our feelings. In everyone’s life, tragic events have happened that, if dwelt upon too long, could side-track us and keep us from our destiny. It’s not about denying that it occurred, or denying the pain that it caused. Rather, it is about moving forward despite the tragedy. Those who “camp” there in their misery never realize the greater cause and potential in their lives, and that is even more tragic.

Ruth is an example of one who refused to be defined by the tragedy in her life and ended up in the lineage of the Messiah (See her story in the Book of Ruth). Anna, another woman widowed at a young age, had the privilege of serving in the temple, prophesying over…
