The apostle John was told to write the things which he has seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place (Rev. 1:19). Chapter 12 is a prime example of all three tenses expressed in the same chapter, and not necessarily in that order. The past and present prophecies fulfilled reassure us and confirm that the future ones are just as sure to come to pass, as well.
The woman with child mentioned is referring to Israel (see Gen. 37:9, 10), and the Child she gives birth to after much travail and pain is Jesus Christ the Messiah (Rom 9:4, 5).
