November 14 Scripture Selection: Hebrews 9
Food for Thought: Heb. 9:1-3, 7, 11, 12, 24-26
Beyond the veil in the temple in Jerusalem was the place called the Holy of Holies where the Jewish high priest would enter once a year to sprinkle the blood of a sacrificed animal for the sins of himself of the people. Then Jesus Christ entered the scene and became the Great High Priest (vs. 11), the sacrificed Lamb (John 1:29), and the Veil itself (Heb. 10:20), for the complete remission of the sins of all mankind.
The enormous significance of the veil being torn when Jesus died on the cross, as seen in Mark 15:38, is two-fold. First, as Jesus said just before taking His last breath, “It is finished (John 19:30),” no further sacrifice would ever be required of human priests, much less anyone else. No other priest…
