November 8 Scripture Selection: Hebrews 3
Food for Thought: Heb. 3:6, 12-14
Jesus said it, Paul said it, and the writer of Hebrews did, too. They forewarned us that there would be some among us who would fall into unbelief and a hardened heart due to the “deceitfulness of sin” (vs. 12, 13). Some would “not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables (II Tim. 4:3-5).” Jesus tells us that in the last days “many prophets will rise up and deceive many,” and “the love of many will grow cold” (Mat. 24:10-13). However, these great men who have alerted us to that possibility have also given us a way to avoid falling prey.
