Yes, it is possible to cause Jesus to weep, but in this situation you can bet it was not due to His grieving the death of His friend Lazarus. (If the Jews said it, it is a sure thing that it was not so.) Why would the Lord cry when He knew Lazarus was about to be resurrected?! That would be motive for rejoicing, and what’s more, He knew that the resurrection would bring glory to the Lord.
The thing that grieves the Lord is to see His creation, made in His image, with the intention that they would “take dominion” on the earth and have intimate, constant communication with Him, reduced to tears of anguish and suffering in the absence of faith.
