June 23 Scripture Selection: Luke 7:36-50
Food for Thought: Luke 7:38, 39, 48, 50
This is one of the most touching scenes in all the Bible. A woman who obviously had many regrets and wounds in her heart somehow knew that Jesus was the Lord of lords and humbled herself before Him and worshiped Him with everything she had. That utter and complete faith in action saved her and gave her a new life free from the burden of guilt and sin. The Pharisees would have preferred to leave her in the state she was in, judging her unclean.
Sometimes we can have an attitude similar to that of the Pharisee toward sinners. Sometimes we forget that the Lord loves them immensely just as they are and does not judge them. He does not hold against them their sins. Sometimes we do.
