If we want to have productive and truly successful lives, there is only one way to do it: prepare the soil of the heart to receive the seed of the Word of God, and protect the plant from the weeds that would strangle it. That does not happen by accident. Some people think that the current condition that they are in is simply their “lot in life,” or that it is someone else’s fault. Others are trying pretty hard to get it right, putting out a lot of human effort, but they haven’t dealt with the condition of the soil of their heart.
Any soil left alone will have stones, weeds, thickets, and maybe even trees that will need to be removed before any successful cultivation can take place. My father-in-law was given…
