April 24 Scripture Selection: Mark 3:20-35
Food for Thought: Mark3:28-30
Often times people take scriptures out of context and unintentionally misinterpret and misapply them. I think today’s selected text is one of the most commonly misunderstood ones. I should know; because of my lack of revelation, this scripture actually troubled me for some time.
Let’s remember that Jesus Christ had just been called Beelzebub, the prince of the devils. Let’s also remember that the Jewish leaders were actually speaking to and about God Himself in the flesh. (How dare they?!) Then Jesus goes into a simple explanation of how that doesn’t even make logical sense because He would have to bind himself in order to be able to rob the house (vs. 27). If He were Beelzebub, He would have to attack himself. Immediately following, because they said, “He has an unclean spirit,” Jesus warns…
