When people give their lives to Christ, a common occurrence is for them to purge their homes of possessions representative of the old, ungodly life. Interestingly, many times they don’t even need coached to do it by mature Christians. The Holy Spirit nudges them about it, and they get rid of the offensive things, no matter their value.
However, there are some people who harden their hearts to the guidance of the Lord because of the economic cost of the item, or its sentimental value, or because of some familiar ties to it (What would Grandmother say, etc.), and they keep it in their homes. Some may never look at it or handle it, but it is still there. And its influence, in one way or another, remains. People who cannot bring themselves…
