Through the years, we have had occasionally new students in our Christian school who obviously were “from the world.” I can recall once, during class a discussion, one of them was surprised to learn that it is wrong to trust in money. She had been taught—by word and by example—that the whole objective in life was to pile up wealth as much as possible, by whatever means necessary. Apparently, it was what her parents were doing and at great expense of their children.
I tried to explain that God is not against prosperity; if He were, then He never would have deliberately prospered Abraham, Joseph, Job, etc. It’s just that when people make it their idol to whom they go to “resolve”…
