I’ve recently been reminded of a graphic which many of us have seen from time to time. 


Now, I’m not going to go into detail about what this graph is wrong, or the different algorithms and technology used to generate this graph.   It isn’t worth the effort.  I’ll just say this is dishonesty at work. 

But, that doesn’t mean I challenge the idea there has been a significant decline in the northern hemisphere sea ice.  There certainly has been. 


The problem I have with this is the “why it matters”. 

Back when the hysteria over naturally occurring changes in our climate began, the thought, according to the nutters,  was that this was a really, really important part of our energy balance.
